Robert Ray


Bob was born June 24, 1935 in Irvington, NJ to the late John and Helen Ray.  He worked for the Newark Evening News for over 20 years.  In 1969, he opened Spotswood Carvel, which he owned and operated with his family for nearly 30 years.  A proud member of the Marco Island Italian American Society and the Knights of Columbus of San Marco Catholic Church, he will be remembered by his humor, kindness, and contributions to his community and church.  Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan; his son and wife, Kenny and Jackie; daughter and fiance, Barbara and Robert Roman; daughter and husband, Cynthia and Mark McGiunness; son and wife, Timothy and Claudine; nine grandchildren; and brother, John.  Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at San Marco Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Vitas Hospice, 4980 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 102, Naples, Florida 34103 or St. Judy's Childrens' Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
